Upon your request and informing your child’s school team, we are happy to attend your child’s IEP meetings, assist with assessment and intervention development, and/or provide consultation to your child’s education team. -
What does therapy look like? Before therapy begins, Manawa Behavior Health will complete a comprehensive evaluation of your child’s skillset. This process starts with an initial meeting with caregivers and the Behavior Analyst, then we conduct an assessment of current skill functioning. This may include conducting a Functional Behavior Assessment and a Skill-based Assessment. Our focus is to identify how your child learns best, what motivates your child, and identify any problem behaviors that need to be addressed. This assessment is usually performed across multiple visits and involves interviews, direct observations, and interaction with the client. Next, the Behavior Analyst writes a treatment plan based on the assessments conducted and targets/goals are created and submitted to the funding source. Treatment hours and goals are then authorized by the funding source. Once this happens, The Behavior Analyst will meet with the caregiver to discuss the results of the assessment, and authorized hours, and to plan a regular schedule. Finally, ABA treatment is provided by either a Registered Behavior Technician (under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst) or directly by a Behavior Analyst. Family participation and involvement in treatment are necessary to support the effectiveness of the treatment plan. Caregiver training is used to educate caregivers to implement strategies and support their children in the home and community environments. It is generally recommended within the treatment plan and it is expected that caregivers participate.
